General Duties:
Request, review, and analyze reports of liens, titles, and abstract extensions Prepare deeds, declaration of value statements, groundwater hazard statement, and closing statements Prepare release and satisfaction documents Prepare initial drafts of purchase agreements and escrow agreements Prepare 1099s and maintain a 1099 log Assist attorneys with Iowa Title Guaranty compliance reporting Conduct real estate closings Examine abstracts of title and prepare initial drafts of title opinions, title commitments, and certificates Review GIS mapping Trace legal descriptions Obtain copies of recorded documents Record deeds, mortgages, and other real estate documents Maintain an abstract log Other duties as assigned by attorneys Required Skills:
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Aptitude for and willingness to learn and master electronic recording and online records Ability to adjust to competing deadline demands and prioritize work Ability to share work responsibilities with other staff Strong written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills with clients and other Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or 2-year certificate from a recognized paralegal program is preferred Preference for candidate to have both
